January 11: The First Major Astrological Event of 2025 — the North Node Enters Pisces
On the heels of Pluto's ingress into Aquarius—Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and the North Node will change signs this year. First up: on January 11th, the North Node shifts from Aries into Pisces.
This week, I tried to research past instances when six or more slow-moving planets changed signs within a year (starting from Pluto's permanent shift into Aquarius in November 2024) but found nothing.
2025 is about to be an unprecedented year of change!
The astrological bodies changing signs this year are:
North Node: Enters Pisces on January 11, 2025.
Neptune: Enters Aries on March 30, 2025.
Saturn: Enters Aries on May 24, 2025.
Jupiter: Enters Cancer on June 9, 2025.
Uranus: Enters Gemini on July 7, 2025.

Okay! Let’s get into what the North Node moving into Pisces on January 11 means.
Firstly—what do the Nodes actually represent?
The North Node and South Node have a momentum built into them. The North Node indicates where we are collectively headed, based on what energies are becoming magnified in the universe (this is where its association with destiny comes from), while the South Node represents what we’re leaving behind.
Consciously aligning with the North Node means reaping the rewards of putting yourself in the right place at the right time.
In contrast, lingering in the South Node’s energy keeps you caught in what is dissipating, making it more conducive to bad luck (wrong place, wrong time). This “reward system” is why the Nodes are associated with karma.
In Vedic astrology, the North and South Nodes (known as Rahu and Ketu) are viewed with more caution, even referred to as malefic. This is partly because Vedic astrology emphasizes transcending karma altogether, rather than just accumulating "positive" karma to offset "negative" karma. The concept of "positive" experiences vs. "negative" experiences is of the material plane. The ultimate goal is not to continue the cycle of karma but to break free from it, allowing the higher Self to emerge.
Both the North Node in Western astrology and Rahu in Vedic astrology are associated with growth. Western astrology tells us that the North Node points us to our soul’s growth, while Vedic astrology tells us it is associated with the material plane. Personally, the way I reconcile the two is—we are all ultimately pure consciousness incarnated in a human body, with a soul that is an individual expression of that consciousness. Our soul, though spiritual in nature, is a part of our incarnation on Earth, which is the material plane.
While the North Node supports our soul's growth, it's important to remember that soul growth isn't about karmic rewards or consequences—it’s about returning to pure consciousness, which is inherently neutral, as everything is one.
We do ultimately exist on the material plane during incarnation, so there’s no need to shun the cycle of karma, as we’ll spend much of our time on Earth in it whether or not we want to. However, from a broader perspective, it’s helpful to remember that we are ultimately one with an all-encompassing pure consciousness, which is separate from the Earth game we’re playing.
Coincidentally, the North Node in Pisces is bringing our attention to this very experience.
So, what can we expect over the next 18 months with the North Node in Pisces?
The North Node in Pisces will guide us to release regressive Virgo traits—obsessions with control and perfectionism, an overemphasis on the 3D world as the primary lens through which we perceive and navigate reality, and the belief that hard work necessarily leads to desired results. We’re also being led to let go of excessive criticism of ourselves and others, the constant need to stay “plugged in” and know everything at all times, and micromanaging every detail. Additionally, there’s a call to release any guilt or sense of duty that might lead to self-sacrifice.
The “bad luck” associated with staying in these energies may manifest as intense anxiety and a sense of internal unrest, sacrificing yourself to the point of self-neglect (or even facing abuse in some capacity), and stress-related health problems that ultimately force us into a "time out."
In contrast, the North Node in Pisces suggests: rather than swimming so hard, let the river carry you.
Pisces understands that control is an illusion—we’re part of a greater consciousness with an invisible logic beyond our grasp. In reality, anything can happen, no matter how much we try to manage every variable perfectly.
Pisces also knows that because of this, worry and anxiety aren’t productive—they only lead to unnecessary suffering. Investing in practices that cultivate inner peace, even in the midst of undesirable circumstances, will be hugely rewarding—you might find yourself finally able to overcome debilitating mental health struggles, for example.
Taking the easy route right now—even taking our hands off the wheel entirely—will likely accelerate having our needs fulfilled with less struggle, though we may find that what we need isn’t necessarily what we want. Just as we can't fully grasp the way the universe works, if we and the universe are part of one consciousness, we can never fully understand ourselves and our incarnation on Earth. Pisces rules the 12th house of the unconscious and unseen—things that influence us but are outside of our awareness. This is why it’s crucial to have faith in the universe’s intelligence to guide us, rather than relying solely on our logical minds, which will always have their blind spots. This is why it’s important to develop our intuition, as it has a stronger connection to the universe than logic.
This may require letting go of certain attachments without clarity about why (i.e., surrendering). The universe may impose endings where we’ve held onto things that harm us—people we sacrifice ourselves to without realizing it, unconscious self-sabotaging patterns, unresolved trauma, and other veiled forces. It may feel unfair—why are we being denied our worldly comforts and desires? The relationship we want, the career, etc.? Likely because those things have us caught in cycles that hurt us in ways we can’t see.
The rewards of the North Node in Pisces may thus feel immaterial—we are being gifted with the release of unseen burdens by surrendering to the logic of the universe, without resistance or the need to know why.
The healing waters of the North Node in Pisces also support making peace with the disappointments of navigating the material world. Sometimes we love those who do not love us back, sometimes our dreams go unfulfilled, or we lose people we love. How do we go on? How do we continue to live a life of meaning? This is where Pisces’ connection to the gifts of the immaterial realm comes in, urging us to make space for them by releasing anything that blocks our connection. In doing so, we can find relief from the ups and downs of the endless karmic cycle and reconnect with the pure consciousness of our true state—separate from the Earth game. Faith and spirituality, art, unconditional love and compassion (even for those who cause us suffering, recognizing that all humans have limitations and flaws beyond their control), and the cultivation of our intuition are all areas to explore right now.
As your North Node “reward,” you’ll likely achieve much-needed peace, closure, and release from the repetitive cycles of suffering you could never understand how to get yourself out of, no matter how hard you tried. Ironically, while the North Node in Pisces urges us to surrender, usually without fully understanding why, once we do we are often given precisely the answers we seek. It’s actually kinda spooky. You may uncover repressed memories or gain missing information that acts as the final puzzle piece, helping you understand why certain events in your life had to unfold the way they did.
The material world is fleeting, and relying on external sources for fulfillment often leads to disillusionment at some point. The joy of attaining a desired relationship, job, or wealth can vanish in an instant, causing suffering if we’ve attached our sense of purpose to them. The North Node in Pisces offers liberation from this dead end. As you align with the North Node in Pisces’ energy, you’ll discover that the most true and enduring form of fulfillment lies within. Through your connection to spirit and awareness of the pure consciousness we are all ultimately a part of, we can transcend the Earth game and access the enduring comfort of knowing the universe isn’t out to punish us.
